On the slopes of the Durance and in the Avance valley, the vineyards of the Hautes-Alpes are enjoying a renaissance. Its history dates back thousands of years to the Middle Ages. With the phylloxera crisis, this micro-vineyard almost disappeared.

With 160 hectares of vines, some of them the highest in France, the vineyards of the Hautes-Alpes are classified as IGP Indication Géographique Protégée (Protected Geographical Indication). The estates regularly win prizes and medals at the International Agricultural Show.
One of the special features of these estates is the use of ancient grape varieties, including one endemic to the Hautes-Alpes, the mollard, which was saved in the 1950s and is now being cultivated again.
