Fruit valley
Nature and local produce
Between lake, mountain and verdant meadows, the Serre-Ponçon valleys are deeply rural. Here, the land has been cultivated for generations by local producers, breeders, beekeepers, wine growers... All share the same attachment to this land of orchards, vineyards and pastures.
These landscapes shaped by man and nature make Serre-Ponçon Vallées an ideal destination for a country vacation in the Hautes-Alpes.

Durance basin
Land irrigated by the Durance
The Durance river runs through our valleys like a backbone. It irrigates the natural meadows, feeds the agricultural canals and enables farmers to practice sustainable mixed farming: cereals, forage, arboriculture and pastures follow one another across the fields.
It's all mountain agriculture, driven by water, that unfolds here. The Durance basin plays an essential role in maintaining this diversity, nourishing the land and supporting human activity.
Wines of the Hautes-Alpes
A mountain vineyard to discover
Less well known than the major wine-growing regions, the vineyards of the Hautes-Alpes are full of surprises. Here, vines grow on exposed slopes at altitudes of between 600 and 900 meters, in a dry, contrasting climate that gives the grapes a natural concentration.
Mollard grape variety
The Mollard grape, typically Haut-Alpin, is one of the treasures of this mountain wine. It produces light, fruity red wines with spicy notes, perfect for accompanying local cuisine. Other grape varieties such as Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are also grown locally.

The orchards are also home to other mountain fruits: pears, plums and red berries, sometimes transformed into homemade juices or jams and sold directly to producers! Keep your eyes peeled in summer, as small stalls along the little roads of the Durance and Avance rivers invite you to stock up on fruit and vegetables for your vacations!
Agricultural valleys of mixed farming and livestock breeding
The Avance valley is also the cradle of mountain-based mixed farming and livestock breeding. Here, cows, sheep and goats are raised on natural meadows . These landscapes, shaped by the hard work of our farmers, are perfect for a rejuvenating family vacation in the countryside. You'll find all the products of our farmers on the markets of the Hautes-Alpes or on sale direct from the farm.
