Presentation
The media library is screening the documentary film by René Mannent and Charly Baile on Friday 3 July at 7pm, in the presence of one of the directors, Mr Mannent. Places are limited; booking is required.
"This documentary film takes us to the heart of an extraordinary transhumance, following a flock of 2,000 sheep as they travel 200 km on foot over 10 days, from Provence to the slopes of the Alps, through breathtaking landscapes. Between ancient sheep tracks and country roads, this journey is punctuated by numerous adventures.
As the film unfolds, we also discover more local transhumance journeys in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and the Hautes-Alpes. Filmed 20 years ago, these sequences bear witness to a tradition that has now disappeared. Restored and enriched with new footage, the film notably features an encounter with Hugues Aufray, a pastoralism enthusiast and performer of the famous song ‘Le Petit Âne gris’."
