- The summit of Mont Colombis: an exceptional panorama of Lake Serre-Ponçon and mountain pastures bathed in the golden colors of the larch trees. And for those who want to save energy, it's possible to climb part of the way by car.
- The Demoiselles Coiffées de Théus ballroom: the Vallauria valley is at its most colorful in autumn. In this magical setting, unique geological formations blend with the magic of seasonal landscapes.
- The Serre l'Eyglier lookout: an unobstructed view of the Avance valley. If you're feeling more sporty, you can extend the experience with a climb to Piolit, rewarded by a breathtaking panorama.
- Les crêtes du Laus: above the Notre dame du laus sanctuary, a panoramic hike through the forest. For a family outing, opt for the tour de Pindeau, a peaceful stroll in the heart of the countryside.
- The Crete de la Colle from Piégut: a real undiscovered gem. The panorama is splendid and the village of Venterol, perched below, is well worth a visit.

With over 300 days of sunshine a year, rain is a rare occurrence in the Hautes-Alpes... but it's always good to have a few ideas on hand! Whether you're looking for shelter from a downpour or simply want to discover the local heritage, here are a few museums and visits not to be missed this autumn.
Apiland Nature
Perfect for a family outing, Apiland invites young and old to explore biodiversity and the fascinating world of bees. The guided tour (booking recommended) is as much fun as it is educational. Good news: the site is open this autumn, even during the All Saints' Day vacations.
The Winegrower's Museum
Ideal with friends or as part of a corporate seminar, this museum plunges you into the the history of Hautes-Alpes wine. Visits are possible out of season for groups (minimum 8 people). A tasting accompanies the discovery, and to extend the experience, head to the wineries to meet the producers and buy wine direct.
Le Muséoscope du Lac
Until October 15, the Muséoscope du Lac retraces the fabulous story of the construction of the dam and the birth of the Serre-Ponçon lake. A fascinating visit that sheds light on the history and identity of an entire region.
Retro Serre Ponçon
A guided tour outside the walls ! Fleuranne, our tour guide, knows all about our valleys. In her 60s van, she'll take you on a guided tour of our sheltered area (dam, coiffed damsels, vineyards) (For 2025, available until mid-October, she's taking some time off this year for the All Saints' holiday)

Is it still possible to swim in Lac de Serre-Ponçon in autumn?
In September, it's still possible to swim in Lac de Serre-Ponçon. Temperatures vary according to the weather, but it's the ideal month to enjoy a lake that's still high, quiet beaches and spectacular turquoise waters.
In October, if the sun continues to warm the water, a wetsuit is recommended to prolong the pleasure. For slide lovers, Naturoll Serre-Ponçon remains open until the end of September, with wakesurfing and wakeboarding sessions. And on sunny days, there's nothing like a picnic or barbecue on the magnificent Bois Vieux beach.
What family activities are available in Serre-Ponçon Vallées in autumn?
Apiland museum, to discover the fascinating world of bees, Pony, horse or donkey rides in the Avance valley. Forest puzzle walk, a fun hike for children. Guided bike rides with Mountain Évasion, which offers child seats and trailers. Family hikes and walks for all ages. Karting des 3 Lacs (until October 12). Where to admire the most beautiful autumn colors? When do larch trees turn golden?
The Sapet forest at La Bâtie-Neuve, the Mont Colombis mountain pastures with their golden larches, the Venterol and Piégut forests, the forest around the sanctuary of Notre-Dame du Laus.
Larch trees change color according to the weather, generally from mid-October onwards.

Is there snow in your valleys in autumn?
With the differences in altitude, there may well be snow on the summits as early as October, but it doesn't last long and doesn't prevent hiking. From November 1 onwards, winter tires, 4-season tires or chains must be fitted to vehicles.
Can I come by public transport?
Yes, the Gap and Chorges train stations are about 15 minutes from our valleys. An overnight train service from Paris to Gap makes it easy to spend a weekend here.
For local travel, we recommend renting a car in Gap. But if you're a microadventure enthusiast, why not come by gravel bike? In just 30 minutes by bike from Gap, you can leave the city behind and reach our valleys and their small mountains: the assurance of an unusual and natural weekend.
