The village is situated near the town of Tallard, 5 km away, where most amenities are concentrated.
There are numerous walking routes taking you up to the highest point, Mont-Sérieux, where you can enjoy lovely views of the Ceüze cliff, the Pic de Bure and the peaks of the Ecrins. It’s the ideal setting for short family walks in the forest, which makes up 50 per cent of Piégut’s territory. Whether you’re visiting with family or friends, there’s plenty to keep you occupied in Piégut: mountain biking, walking, go-karting, swimming, cable skiing, or simply enjoying the scenery from the church square!

A predominantly agricultural village, Piégut falls within the area covered by the Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée (AOC) designation for Haute-Provence lavender essential oil and nine Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) designations for various local produce: apples from the Alpes de Haute-Durance, Provence honey, Sisteron lamb, white, red and rosé wines from the Alpes de Haute-Provence, and white, red and rosé VDP (Vin de Pays Méditerranéen) wines.

The 15th- and 16th-century château, the Church of Saint-Colomban and the chapel in the hamlet of Neyrac all bear witness to the local history.
