Piégut Town Hall

Presentation

Located on the left bank of the Durance, Piégut is a small rural commune in the Alpes de Haute-Provence. Nestled on the heights, the commune is close to the town of Tallard, 5 km away, where most services are grouped together.

Numerous hikes allow you to climb to the highest point, Mont-Sérieux, to discover pleasant views of the Ceüze cliff, the Pic de Bure or the Ecrins peaks. It is an ideal setting for short family walks in the forest which makes up 50% of the territory of Piégut. From visiting family to friends, there is plenty to do in terms of leisure activities in Piégut: mountain biking, hiking, karting, swimming, cable skiing or simply enjoying the scenery from the church square!

A mainly agricultural town, Piégut belongs to the perimeter of the appellation d'origine contrôlée (AOC) label for the essential oil of Haute-Provence lavender and 9 protected geographical indication (PGI) labels for its various local productions: apples from the Alpes de Haute-Durance, honey from Provence, lamb from Sisteron, white, red and rosé wine from the Alpes de Haute Provence and white, red and rosé VDP from the Mediterranean.
The 15th and 16th century castle, the church of Saint-Colomban and the chapel in the hamlet of Neyrac are all testimonies of local history. A stay in Piégut can be sporty, gastronomic or contemplative as you wish!
