Presentation

A rural, bucolic route, accessible to all and offering superb panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, to discover the villages of La Bâtie-Vieille and Rambaud.

From the car park, go to the rue de la mairie behind the information panels. Go up the road 150 metres to the left to reach the start.
Follow the direction of Notre-Dame-du-Laus, due south, taking the farm track that climbs through the fields, towards the Hermitage crossroads. To the north stands the Vieux Chaillol (3164m) and to the west the cliffs of Céüse (2016m). A few hundred metres further on, the farm road crosses a track. Follow the latter on the right.

At the intersection with the tarmac road, continue straight on the latter in the direction of the telecom tower of Puy Maurel. Follow this road until you reach a place called l'Hermitage.
Then head towards Rambaud on the same road and after only 500 metres leave it to take a downhill track that goes into the forest. This section is shared with the GR 653D and the Santiago de Compostela paths. Join the village of Rambaud and cross it.
At the crossroads, pass the fountain then turn right and follow the direction of Les Gays. Go up to the bell tower to discover a breathtaking panorama of the greater Gapençais area. The orientation table next to it is a good place to discover the surrounding peaks. Continue along the ridge line and follow a path down into the black marl, typical of the Rambaud plateau (short but steep and slippery passage!)
Arrived at the foot of the Marnière, find the track and take it on the left towards the north and the village of La Bâtie-Vieille.
When you reach the hamlet of Les Gays, turn right towards La Bâtie-Vieille on a track which quickly becomes a path, then a path in the undergrowth. Cross the Bois des Seigneurs to reach the village of La Bâtie-Vieille and its first houses. Cross the residential areas and find the main road of the village. Continue straight on this road, with a view of the Tower, to reach the starting car park.
