Presentation
Music from North India as part of the Artistes en présences programme organised by the ECC Chaillol. 27 March in Rousset-Serre-Ponçon - salle des fêtes.
Music of North India
Hindustani music, the classical expression of North India, is the fruit of a long impregnation of Indian traditions, dating back nearly fifteen centuries before the Christian era and irrigated by the contributions of Persian music from the 13th century onwards. Carried along by parampara, an uninterrupted oral transmission, from guru to shishya, from master to disciple, this music is alive and well, walking a fine line between the celebration of a heritage and free improvisation. Artists with international careers and acclaim, the three musicians gathered for these concerts invite you to take a sumptuous journey through the Hindustani repertoires, discovering the traditional ragas, the melodic modes specific to Indian music, and the talas, the shimmering rhythmic structures of this tradition. Three concerts to be enjoyed to the full, as a universal spiritual experience.
